Two weeks in Port Lincoln fine tuning the 'TROOPY' for her maiden 'TOWING' trip.
Haven't even left town and a chipped windscreen from one of
DK McDonalds trucks. Insurance covered this. Tinnie had 2 cracked ribs, Mark fixed these had him weld up all rib's plus add a step on the rear for easy access. 3" exhaust not delivered in time, will get fitted in Oct. on our return to the Driver River Church 100 years. Quick flick thru the local new's paper - spotted a 'SHED'!

Routine road check up the road found van bearings / brakes HOT. Recently adjusted brakes, so backed off the brakes.
Not until we got to Port Augusta figured out the problem. With head lights on, the electronic brakes were 'LIVE'. Thus activated slightly - no head lights whilst driving with van in tow all okay. Alice Springs - Scorpion Auto Electrics stung us $20, for 2 minutes to advise us the brake controller was faulty = Hogwash!
Coober Pedy camels being relocated - tour operator conducting camel treks thru the outback
Frill neck lizard - couldn't get him to FRILL!
Here for the day - only 204k's big days drive, serious head winds.
Set up weather station
Wind gusting at 58.7kph, no wonder fuel was 4.3kpl or 23.18 ltr's per 100k's. 5th gear, more on that later - Strez Track.
What no parking sign! All the way from USA. East Coast to Perth via Great Central Road, hoping for the head winds to abate, or get a lift out to Eyers Rock.
Camped south of Alice Springs - gravel pit. Watching the
bush fire and wind direction
Wind's changed we are out of here. Went back to
Rainbow Valley, fire already burnt thru there.
Next morning - our gravel pit camp burnt out!
One way to carry a back-up vehicle
Impressive set up complete with trailer
Yes, enjoyed the rest, but ________!
Tire monitoring system - Tireguard saved the day. Very slow leak with the alarm going off after we parked up for the day. Check out - www.daviescraig.com.au - well worth the investment, we found the booster was required to get signal from rear tires.
Taking our time - 8 days, and ready to kick back and relax!
and relax we did, once our camp was set up. 4 days of wind, this is the first calm morning at King Ash Bay.
Adding some velcro tabs to the new shade extension
Catching up with Don & Chris who were at KAB in 2010
Easy this fishing - tinnies not even in the water and vaccum sealed fish. Thanks Bill and Luba (BT owners) we meet in 2008 at KAB.
Bill cleaning more fish!
Kim (Woody) - our neighbour was very happy with this fish!
We got the fish wings for tea.
Our 1st fish each - both released!
Mitre 11 - KAB, good frame, now repaired
with seat belt webbing and in our SHED!
When ya! gotta take a DUMP! Ya! gotta go!
KAB - Golf, 6 holes, 3 rounds = 18 for those
numerically challanged
Very professional
Looking the part! Good practice for our Nullabor links
tour in November.
Best part of the day - no wind!
This family found the high spot amonst the mangrove,
not hard to do, but a good referance point
Yeah! Teased this fellow out for Sue - at least 10 cast (fly fishing). Then Sue flicked in a weighted fly, bang 1st cast, Sue was still shaking for 20 minutes after landing!
Creek run off - no Barra but a Queenie landed - good run on FLY!
Bike ride - runway mare, yes it's at the air field
It floats - maiden voyage, being built by the servo guy's
- their party barge!
Got to be good to catch one of these, took some prying
off the tinnie. Released - apparently good eating!
Early morning cruisin'
Still cruisin' 30 minutes later, out to Davies Channel - 34k's
David is happy - Nettie has landed her 1st Barra, right on 1200hrs, time to get out of this creek or we are high and dry very quick
Bill and Luba returning from our day out. New fishing creeks for us, and will return - thanks Bill & Luba, got the corrd's on our GPS.
Frank & Malika at happy hour or 2. BT owners also, no tinnie yet!
Nettie & David - Camper trailer and big tinnie - Lyndale Grazing out Roma way. Cowboy wanting to be a fisherman!
John, Bill, Luba, Helen, Sue - all with BT's
Luba, Helen & Sue's been in the sun or_____ !
Ended up with four Bushtrackers along the river bank
Our camp - all fogged in till 1030hrs!
Mirror conditions - great for fly fishing, alas no fish of legal size, three Barra landed all under 55cm
Sue finally landed a legal one on a lure- bright green,
our last fishing day.
Checking out Bill's side loader - stresses and strains!
Yep! time to hit the road and cheerio's all round.
Frank, Malika, John, Helen, Luba, Bill, Sue, David and Nettie.
Three weeks not long enough, just get set up and on the road again.
Lake Katherine here we come = 'RED CLAW"
